Recently there have been incidences of hoax e-mails fraudulently using the Mizuho name (as discussed below) and Mizuho Bank is warning customers to be aware.
These emails use the Mizuho Bank logo and copyright to notify customers about credit cards, etc. and contain links to the Mizuho Bank website. By clicking on the link the customer is taken to a website that appears identical to the genuine Mizuho Bank website. Customers are required to enter their information, including their address and credit card number, in an attempt to fraudulently obtain the customerfs personal information.
Cases of unsolicited emails claiming to be from Mizuho Bank and using subjects such as gaccount password conformationh to notify customers of online banking passwords have been verified. By opening an attached file or clicking on a link in the email, the customer may download a virus. Mizuho Bank does send emails advising customers about products or services, but it never informs customers of their passwords via e-mail. Please delete any unsolicited emails.
Recently people have been falling victim to email scams (phishing) that attempt to fraudulently acquire personal information.
